LUQIAN CHEN

Hi, my name is Lucie/Luqian Chen.

Over the past 7 years, I’ve focused on designing technically complex B2B SaaS systems that require both system-level reasoning and empathy for technical users. At Kyligence, I designed data intelligence products that demanded a deep grasp of data pipelines and data-heavy interfaces. Later at Deel, I worked on system-level features like Roles & Permissions and Settings, translating complex backend logic into clear, intuitive experiences.

My comfort with technical complexity stems from my background at NYU ITP, where I explored programming in Python, JavaScript, HTML, and Swift. Though I don’t write production code today, I can read and reason about it, which helps me naturally bridge design and engineering. Recently, with the rise of AI-assisted coding, I’ve started building prototypes again, exploring how technology can become a medium for design.

I’m now looking to focus on AI-driven products, where design meets an entirely new kind of complexity. AI represents a paradigm shift, with no established design patterns yet. I’m drawn to this ambiguity—the challenge of designing for a moving target where the rules are still being written. I believe designers who think technically and thrive in uncertainty are best positioned to shape the next generation of human–AI interaction.
